Macmillan 2011

Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support to be hosted by Wellow Ladies’ Circle Please join us in raising funds for this worthwhile cause.  Give your support by coming for coffee/tea and biscuits, sampling our home-made cake and produce stall, plus all kinds of other goodies!  These include Wendy’s Present Pick, a local raffle to be drawn on the day, an opportunity to enter the National Macmillan Prize Draw - plus much, much more. We would be grateful if you could help by baking and/or supplying produce for the stall, and/or donating a prize for the local raffle or the Present Pick; we’d also be glad to hear of any fund raising ideas you might like to pass on. Please come - it doesn’t work without you! If you can provide any help, would like to make a donation or would like any further information, please contact Audrey Vann  at Maypole Cottage. (Tel; 01623 835517 or email; <audrey@maypolecottage.demon.co.uk>) Gift of a stained-glass panel Our local stained-glass artist, Mick Stokes has generously donated a panel to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.  We are so grateful to Mick for his continuing generosity and for the opportunity for someone to own an original, beautiful piece of work. The panel depicts Noah’s Ark at sea against a vibrant sky, with the dove flying to land; a picture of the detail is below. We will be using the ‘sealed bid’ procedure, and all bids will be opened at the Coffee Morning on 30th September. If you would like more information please contact Audrey Vann (contact info. as above). Sari Raffle Ladies’ Circle has been given a beautiful sari length (approx. 240”/610cm by 45”/115cm); a picture is below, and the real thing is available to be seen at the Olde Red Lion, Wellow (thanks Michelle!). Tickets are £1.00 a strip and are available from the Red Lion and from Audrey Vann at Maypole Cottage (contact details above). The raffle will be drawn at the Ladies’ Circle meeting on 21st September, and the proceeds added to the funding ‘pot’ for the Coffee Morning on 30th September (details above). Webmaster
