Refurbishment prodject 2006In 2006 a further problem with an adjacentstretch of the dam bank was identified and itwas decided once more to retain Willowbankfor the professional work needed. Toftholders'funding partner on this occasion was SherwoodForest Trust (SFT), a partnership oforganisations formed in 1995 who share thecommon goal of restoring the heritage ofSherwood Forest. SFT is supported by theHeritage Lottery Fund. The grant from the Sherwood Forest Trust paidfor the whole professional repair, and ThoresbyColliery Angling Club arranged for the back-filling,with clay donated by a Toftholder. Their workcontributed to the Toftholders' required half-share ofproject costs (because the grant was under'matched funding' provisions, Toftholders needed tocontribute an equivalent sum either in money, timeor materials to the SFT grant). With the enthusiastic support of SFT, it was agreedthat Toftholders would produce another bookletabout Wellow and its heritage, and, as before, deliver a copy free of charge to each household inWellow. The final part of the Toftholders, input wasthe update of the village website to include the2006 project. All the above action has now been completed onschedule.
